It’s hard to retain exceptional and unique design quality when you’re mass producing in China. It’s not necessarily a bad thing as even some of the great high fashion designers of our time have resorted to overseas production for more cost efficient collections. As long as the design is still original and the clothing is well made (and under respectable conditions), we’re okay with it. Of course, we’d prefer for everything to be either produced in the good ol’ USA, or by talented artisans whose work is helping support their community. For the latter, we were thrilled to discover Cobra Society boots and moccasins. Not only are all the shoes handmade in a Moroccan village whose residents benefit from the work, but the designs are fiercely individual and bring a fresh design perspective to tried and true, everyday boots.
