Camilla & Marc, brother and sister duo, have really marked their 10 year anniversary with a stand out collection for Fall 2013. They celebrated at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia where they had the coveted slot of opening the festival. The collection is inspired by the layers of the Russian Matryoshka doll, citing parallels between the layered dolls and the brands own layered past.
Vogue.com.AU re-posted a blog post by Tanja G of My Empirical Life of an interview with Camilla and Marc a few days ago and I particularly liked the designers response to this question and wanted to share:
What do you love about Australian fashion?
“We particularly love how Australian fashion is intrinsically influenced by the country’s landscape and culture. People often think that our isolation is restrictive, but I think it means that we’re unique in how we develop our own aesthetic. With that in mind, when we design each collection, we’re mindful of both our Northern and Southern Hemisphere markets, so creating these seasonal collections can be a challenge. I think that internationally, we offer a point of difference that we attribute to living in Australia.”
We could not agree more with their response! Their collections from season to season are always unique with a point of difference that appeals to both hemisphere’s. Keep it up C&M! Here is to many more successful years to come. Cheers!
A sneak peak at our favorite look that we just ordered for Fall 2013, enjoy!
I pulled this pic from Roseanna‘s Facebook page. What. The. Hell. Who are these chic tweens? Can I adopt them? Or hire them to be my stylist?? If Clueless were to have a prequel, this Pre-Teen Vogue duo could totally be the stars. The one on the left is a Cher Horowitz dead ringer! Anyway, they are both in head to toe Roseanna with Chanel accessories and…Keds! Sometimes you have to look to the kids for fun fashion inspiration, right?
We were in magical Paris last week for fall 13 market – the place where our wildest fashion fantasies come true – like seeing Kate Moss in sheer sequin panty hose and no pants at the Meurice, finding vintage Chanel costume jewelry at the Porte Clignacourt flea market, and eating bread for every meal but somehow not gaining a pound. #Frenchgirlsdon’tgetfat, right? Most of our time was spent in showrooms scouting up and coming collections, but we did sneak away to a few shows and Chloe was the highlight. It was glorious! As the show was on a sunny Sunday in the heart of the Tuileries, the street style hunters were on the prey in packs. Here are a few of our favorite snaps post show.

Here are their inspirations for a week of cool looks that hint at the upcoming Spring trends while still working for winter.

The Model Off Duty look, or M.O.D., is best captured during fashion week, when willowy young beauties are frantically dashing from show to show while displaying their flare for unexpected and chic layering. It also doesn’t hurt to be 5’10, 120 pounds and stunning. But nonetheless, we can pick up some very handy and imitable look inspirations from studying these PYTs during their fashion week migrations. A perfect example is pictured below. This tri-layer look has the perfect mash up of print and texture and is fun and functional. And of course we love that she’s wearing our Thakoon Addition Double Layer Jacket – it’s such a fabulous light weight jacket in a gorgeous geometric print. Get it here – on SALE!
