Marc by Marc Jacobs‘ fall 15 show was all about Girl Power. A militant theme weaved through the collection, but was softened by rich brocades, paisley prints and layers of tulle. It all mashed up beautifully, and when John Lennon’s “We all Shine On” blasted for the finale you couldn’t help but get goosebumps.
The 70s are back in a big way for Fall and Karen Walker’s fun and flirty take on the decade is spot on. Think Marsha Brady meets American Hustler. And her sell out sunnies are sure to be back ordered on this site come fall!
Salt n Pepa, pretty underpinnings and technical outwear magically came together at Rag & Bone‘s always exciting runway show. The downtown chic influences we love and expect from David and Marcus were woven through these 90s themes creating a super fun Fall 15 collection. We’re excited to pull apart the styling in the showroom next week, but loved the truly original and inspiring styling!
Our true love for Tibi was the fuel to bundle up and bear the downright bitter cold weather to attend their Fall runway show this past weekend. As always, it was so exciting to see how designer Amy Smilovic is evolving the Tibi woman. She’s effortless, artistic and has a knack for luxe layering. Above all, she’s always comfortably chic, and who doesn’t want to look like that? For fall, we’re giddy about the nubby jackets in creamy pastels, monochromatic navy and grey looks and slinky pencil skirts that pair perfectly with delicious knits. Get on that waitlist! And shop the equally beautiful Spring collection here.
Suno is our buyers’ favorite collection. The intricate prints, exquisite fabrications and interesting layers consistently set the label apart from the pack. While they always touch on the trends of the season, Suno manages to rise above and be truly original in a their own quirky chic way. So of course, Fall 15, with it’s floral fantasy prints, oversized striped layers and acid green brocades, did not disappoint!
CFDA nominated Tanya Taylor has sky rocketed to fashion darling status in just a few short seasons. Her front row was packed with “it girls” and editors, all donning her colorful concoctions. We’re most excited about the brand’s evolution and the fact that Taylor has stayed true to the fun, carefree vibe of her collections.
Rodebjer, a label we’ve stocked for several years now, is finally getting the attention it deserves with a packed show and lots of buzz! Yay!!
We caught up with our old friend Mary Seng of the wildly successful style blog Happily Grey at the Suno show last night and had her jot down her fashion week essentials. It’s hard to adhere to your personal style in the arctic blast that is New York right now, but Mary’s effortless layers with an edge transition beautifully from balmy (in comparison) Nashville, where she’s based. Here are her must haves for this week’s shows. We’re thrilled that her key accessory happens to be our very own striped fur stole!
Here’s a rundown of our run around! More behind the scenes on our instagram account!
Most of us have fond memories of playing dress up in our grandmother’s closet, but if your grandmother happened to be Nan Kempner, one of New York society’s most glamorous, glittering stars, then your tea party attire would be more Chanel couture and Cartier baubles than old fur stoles. So it’s no wonder that Meggie Kempner would be inspired to create a clothing line celebrating her late grandmother’s impeccable style. We loved this very uptown chic collection and will definitely be taking a closer look for LN. Stay tuned!
The Tome show was stunning. We love how this up and coming label has taken the exquisite fabrics, silhouettes and glamour of evening wear and applied it to every day ready to wear. There’s an ease to wearing their clothing that makes it truly versatile. We’ve stocked the line for a few seasons now and are excited that these guys are resonating with top editors, retailers and style stars like SJP, who was front row at the show!
Ulla Johnson has been our most loved new addition to LN. From the moment the collection hit the site this past fall, we’ve been selling out and re-stocking – and getting love letters from customers who adore her dreamy dresses and bohemian blouses. Fall 15 is more of the same romantic and effortless pieces. Dream on below and shop her newest arrivals here.
Annie Hall and an all white palette? Sign us up, Ryan Roche! We’ve had our eye on this CFDA nominated designer for a few seasons now, and fall 2015 might just be the perfect time to add her to our roster.
Some early trends unfolding for next fall are winter whites, moody florals, seventies…and vaginas. The latter according to Rachel Antonoff, who’s quirky chic science fair collection features one prominently on a cashmere blend sweater. Would you wear it?
