Simplicity at it’s chicest. We adore this streetstyle snap from Vanessa Jackman. A timeless prep school look gets a modern twist when paired with a leather mini and minimalist jewelry. Get the look with the Aimee Leather Skirt by A.L.C. paired with an effortless crewneck sweater layered under an Equipment blouse. And don’t forget your Karen Walker shades to complete the ensemble. Et Voila – easy outfit.
I took a little field trip to Fort Greene over the weekend to explore the Brooklyn Flea Market. It’s been on my to do list for ages, but there always seems to be a great excuse not to get on the subway and venture deep into Brooklyn on a chilly New York winter weekend. Well, that was a big mistake. Huge! My wardrobe is weeping over the all the vintage treasures that could have accumulated from weekly visits to the BFM.
Too cold to be held outdoors, the winter flea market is housed in a 20th century Beaux-Arts bank with sprawling ceilings and the most glorious gilded architecture – it’s like a mini Grand Central. And it’s brimming with all sorts of interesting vendors selling fabulous vintage clothing, costume jewelry, art and all sorts of trinkets. Here were a few of my favorites:
Estate Jewels by George & Raf – A glorious collection of vintage costume jewels from Valentino, Givenchy, Dior and Chanel. Strands and strands of colorful beads and statement clip-ons were scattered on his tables.
Species by the Thousands – Interesting collection of Pamela Love-esque jewelry. Dark and romantic pieces.
ASIS – Local Brooklyn designer with very well-priced accessories such as yarn wrapped chain link cuffs for $24!!
With the Holiday season wrapping up, I’m more than ready to turn my attention to fresh Spring musings. Nothing better for satisfying my closet’s doldrums than a new Equipment blouse which (be still my heart) I can wear now with a cozy fur vest and well into spring with everything from a flouncy skirt to boyfriend jeans.
