Fashion Week Recap

We’ve been so rotten about sending you updates from Fashion Week. Our plan to post daily reports was selfishly derailed by…well, wine. And delirium. It’s been a complete whirlwind of shows, presentations, showroom appointments, and then evenings of celebrating said shows, presentations and showroom appointments.  As we tend to love EVERYTHING we see from our super chic and talented roster of designers, we’re already dreading the editing process which entails massive picture boards of the clothing and accessories divided into categories and trends in order to curate a well rounded and fresh selection of effortless, versatile and unexpected pieces. All so you can have a pleasant and fulfilling shopping experience.

So, before we lock ourselves in the office for the next few weeks, here is a recap of our favorite fashion moments from NY. Enjoy!

Watch our tres amateur video from the show on Facebook to get a feel for the great color pairings and silhouettes. And get ready for RC spring – which will be available on LN any day now!

What to pack for a Middle Earth Vaca

Mara Hoffman’s Fall Presentation was inspired by her artist husband’s body of work entitled, O Babalon, which is a collage built around depictions of an earth goddess, her attendants, priestesses and their mystical terrain. Whoa. It was a brilliant sci-fi mash up of Dark Crystal meets Middle Earth. In the chicest way imaginable. We loved the dramatic gowns in psychedelic prints and interesting knits layered over flowing skirts. Sounds intense, but the pieces were fresh, colorful and utterly wearable. And as the lines between fashion and fantasy are so often blurred, we’re excited for fall’s free spirited trip at Mara Hoffman.

And click here to get updates on the designer’s equally amazing spring collection – which should arrive any day now!

International Flare

I just got in the mail my new Malene Birger book, Life and Work.  WOW!  I’m obsessed and thank you Malene, now I want to re do my entire apartment.  Birger has a knack for combining a hint of the unexpected alongside her bold patterns transforming homes (and her fashion designs) into inspirational works of art.  If you have a flare for international elements alongside sophistication and of course style you will get lost in these pages!!  I want to wear her spring collection and live in her house in Spain or her flat in Copenhagen;)  Birger is known after all for her style that is exclusive and accessible.  Her spring designs are arriving daily at Les Nouvelles and each piece is utterly wearable!  Shop now.

Winter Brights

Winter style doesn’t have to match the dull and bleak weather. Set against a bright and snowy city, vivid coats looks all the more brilliant. In today’s NYT Sunday Styles, Bill Cunningham captured colorful layers. Lindsey Thornburg’s Cloak, pictured on the bottom row, looks fresh and chic. And Garance Dore, our favorite street style shutterbug, captured Vogue staffer, Stephanie La Cava, skipping across a snow dusted street in a traffic stopping red coat. So with true spring weather still many months away, perk up your winter wardrobe with color! And if you can’t invest in a new coat, try tossing on a We Are Owls Scarf for that pop of crayola!

Fashion Chemistry

Unlike the ridiculous relationships acted out on reality shows like the Real Housewives of (insert city), The Kardashians, etc; Rachel and “Rodg” from the Rachel Zoe Project appear have a rock solid relationship. Their undeniable chemistry is captured in this B roll video from a recent ELLE shoot. I think it’s adorable! Ahh, February. Love is in the air!
