Day Dreaming
It’s been quite cold out, and a little dreary and I’m dreaming of having a suntan and lounging at the beach! So I picked up one of my favorite books, Gypset Style, last night to give me a little hint of sunshine. I love this book, it always gives me perfect inspiration for warm easy destination dressing for a last minute get-a-way during the cold months.
Julia Chaplin coined the term “Gypset” to refer to an international group of bonvivants, artists, and designers. There counterculture forebears include: Victorian explorers, the lost generation of hippies, and beatniks. Gypset fuses the ease and carefree lifestyle of a gypsy with the sophistication of the jet setter. Our LemLem and Issa Caftan’s along with AKA‘s long hippie dresses are just the right mix with of course wavy beach hair and a scarf!
Sigh, now what am I going to wear today in 30 degree weather??
As Seen In: Gryphon in Glamour
Aimee Cho’s inimitable style recipe is detailed in Glamour this month. A sequin dress here, a cotton t-shirt there, some killer accessories…and voila – effortless day to night style! Her spring collection will be arriving at LN any day now, and we’re beyond excited about our trunk show with the designer next week! Stay tuned for details and give us your email so we can holla when the Gryphon goodies arrive!
California Dreaming
Oliver Peoples’ new short film promoting their spring eye wear collection has completely seduced me. After nearly a dozen views it never fails to transport me to a golden dusk in the Hollywood Hills circa 1966. A clean shaven Devendra Banhart and his gorgeous girlfriend, Rebecca Schwartz, romp around a stunning LA mansion in barely anything but their chic shades. Their chemistry is undeniable, and Banhart’s sexy serenade, Brindo, adds to the beauty of this little flick. Stills below were captured from the video playing on Nowness.

Aspen Extreme Shopping
Shopping in Aspen is magical. If you’re looking for a limited edition mink trimmed Moncler Ski Jacket or a Dennis Basso ankle length navajo jeweled fur, then this is your town. For me, it would be truly magical if I could afford anything here, but nothing beats a chardonnay induced Apres Ski shopping trip. Over New Years, after stumbling out of Prada empty handed, I found myself wandering into a promising little shop called vonFreytag Vintage. Gasp. A vintage store? Double gasp! A vintage store that actually sells vintage and not last season’s Chanel at 10% off retail!! And pretty soon I was girl crushing on Giselle Leal (bottom pic), the chic and adorable owner of this expertly curated little vintage gem that stocks European flea market finds from her travels. I left with a Marni-esque tribal fabric statement necklace that by itself looks a tad intimidating, but once around your neck looks absolutely perfect with everything. Magical!

Bangles
I came across this glamorous film noir inspired pic of the always captivating Jane Aldridge on her Sea of Shoes blog today. The bangles she is wearing reminded me of the By Malene Birger Serinan Bracelet Trio we have on sale on LN. I’m sure hers are a treasured vintage find, but it can be so hard to piece together bracelets that stack well and coordinate – BMB makes it easy with a chic little set that you can wear together or apart.
