Summer Blues

dsc_0459_edited-1

Fashionista reported yesterday on the forthcoming arrival of British designer Madeleine Thompson’s namesake cashmere collection stateside this fall. While we’ve already expressed our excitement for this line of cozy chic knits, we just had to note this bit of press from one of our favorite fashion blogs.

I hate to wish summer away, but it’s getting harder and harder to resist daydreaming about ankle length sweater dresses. SIGH!!

Elusive Cool.

Being the anti-label has made Kova & T the must have label. We love them for simple, easy, unadorned clothing. It’s straight forward fashion for women with a predefined personal style searching for that versatile piece to complete or compliment their look.

For fall, their lace leggings in inky blue, stormy grey and black have the same intricate detail as the famed lace from the Prada fall 08 collection. And their tees! They hit at exactly the right place and serve the sole purpose of looking like, well, a perfect tee. And don’t even get me started on the jumper!

Eskell

Eskell

The philosophy of Eskell is deeply threaded in that of personal style.  The idea that clothing is a chance to engage in life and self expression is one of the best things about being a woman. A woman’s wardrobe should be a creation of character shamelessly pulled from all alleys of inspiration. Eskell is about clothing that is feminine and classy yet always wanting to look modern and sexy. Eskell’s vintage inspired look always wants you looking into your wardrobe and thinking that you will have this to cherish in your closet for many years to come and retiring it to be a coveted piece of vintage to someone in the future.

“Our collections usually start with a strong story,” Elizabeth says, “A seventies school girl romance, or Jackie O on holiday. There’s always a strong concept.” Eskell pieces are informed by a sense of nostalgia and we all know fashion through history is iconic.

Check out their new blog Via-Eskell for their updates and inspirations.

Northern Hemisphere

karen-walker22New Zealand based designer, Karen Walker‘s Fall collection centers around beauty meets catastrophe. ”We love the beauty that comes out of catastrophe” says Walker. As the models walked down the runway you could see the broken down and cracked pieces throughout the collection. Charming sweatshirt dresses, cute graphics of broken strands of pearls and shattered china plates, zipper detailing and smart shifts made us utterly fall in love with every piece.

These quirky combinations embrace the beauty of destruction and unconventionality in a way that is feminine and wearable.

Effortless Elegance

Issa London Fall 2009

Issa London Fall 2009

“It’s all about versatility”,  says Daniella Helayel, the Brazilian born designer who founded Issa when she couldn’t find a dress to wear. Helayel wanted a dress that made her, and every woman, feel comfortable and glamorous at the same time.  The anywhere dress. She created the perfect line of dresses that “can be worn from the beach to the office and then onto the red carpet.” Her range of delectable silk print jersey dresses are not only luxuriously sleek and beautiful, but also highly wearable by any woman.

The name Issa comes from the sense of elation Helayel encountered on beaches at home in Brazil: “‘Issa’  is a surfer’s cry of joy when riding the perfect wave.” That happiness remains central to her philosophy. The abiding spirit of Issa, even for clothes worn in formal situations, is one of sunshine and warmth. She wants women to feel as relaxed, confident and sexy as they do when they are on holiday. Her philosophy couldn’t be more right on.

Issa = Effortless Elegance!

Great Dane

By Malene Birger

By Malene Birger

March’s British Vogue recently hailed Malene Birger the “Great Dane” and highlighted her a favorite among fashion editors while MTV crowned her the “Queen of Fashion in Copenhagen.” This Scandinavian designer has a knack for sharp silhouettes referencing the 50s and 60s while channeling modern lady chic. She was inspired by the house of Chanel after all.

If you like to dress with ladylike panache By Malene Birger is the go to label. Instantly desirable and ever – enduring, Malene has a timeless focus on fashion, style and quality – which shows through in every piece.

Oh, and did we mention her philanthropic contributions as a special Ambassador to UNICEF Denmark? Another reason to love Malene.

Perfect Tee

Kain Label

Kain Label

Amanda Kain started Kain as a call back to every woman’s favorite vintage tee.  She wanted a tee you could put on every morning when you wake up that had just the right fit and made you feel your best. She got it right! This collection of tees drape for an easy sexy silhouette and are perfectly worn in. Kain’s signature touches are the baggy pocket and deliciously soft cashmere-modal blend fabric.  Luxury and comfort have never had a better relationship than in this line of simply sexy tees.

It is your long lost boyfriend’s tee made especially for you.

Sequins and Trenches

Gryphon Beaded Top & Vintage Army Jacket

Gryphon Beaded Top & Vintage Army Jacket

Aimee Cho launched Gryphon two years ago to fill a void in the market for one of fashion’s most iconic pieces, the trench coat. Cho’s reinterpretation of the trench is the foundation upon which Gryphon was built. Not only is the trench a staple for every woman’s wardrobe but this timeless essential can be worn day to night, rain or shine.

This season Cho extended her collection to a line of delicately embellished clothing that you can of course wear under your favorite trench. Sequined tanks, dresses, and skirts along with fabulously beaded tunics and tops look perfect paired with your relaxed boyfriend jeans.

We love Gryphon not only because of the signature unexpected detail but because the look of Gryphon is eclectic and irreverent which is the embodiment of the Les Nouvelles woman.

Keep it up Cho!
