Raasta

Kavita Parmar, creative director and founder of RAASTA, was born in India to a family with old ties to the country's glorious textile tradition. Her interest in design however arose when as a child she went to school at an Irish convent and learned how to sew and embroider. After traveling the world and living in cities such as London, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco and New York, she moved to Madrid and started RAASTA in 2002.

Parmar's style is about a gentle glamour, not punchy obvious trends. Her designs are intimate and individual and don't come with a set of rigid rules about how they should be worn. Parmar takes pride in collaborating with craftsmen, artisans and artists in different spheres to develop and encourage recovery of old techniques, which are being lost in this era of instant gratification. RAASTA as a brand is committed to encouraging fair trade with ethical standards to achieve the use of environmentally friendly ecological methods and materials for manufacturing.
